The LA team research focusses on logic design, computer
arithmetic, computer implementation, and VLSI design. The main
goal of the LA research effort is to improve the performance,
measured in delay, power consumption, area, etc., of control and
data path units present in state of the art general purpose and
embedded processors. We address this issues at various design
levels by investigating novel algorithms, architectures,
implementations, and realizations for computer arithmetic
operations. The targeted result is performance improvement while
utilizing well established design paradigms and CMOS fabrication
technologies. This research line has a tight connection with
realistic industrial scenarios as apart of theoretical aspects
related to the Boolean logic based computation of arithmetic
functions CMOS based hardware realizations are targeted.
The Lambda+Alpha theme consists of the following projects:
CMOS based Threshold Logic Gates
Hybrid Boolean and Threshold logic arithmetic circuits
